Marking Milestones: Significance of Rites of Passage Fashion Colour Trends to Watch out for in 2025

Have you been considering moving your mobile home and wondering what exactly the fees involved would be to do so? If you were under the impression that you could simply hook it up to the back of your truck and haul it away then think again. In order to transport a mobile home it will need to meet today’s HUD standards and this can be an enormous undertaking. It can also be a very expensive project. However, with enough planning and the right crew of movers this task can be accomplished. In this article, we’ll take a look at just how much it will cost to get a mobile home moved.

So, what does it cost to move a mobile home?

The cost to move a mobile home will come down to whether you choose a transport only or full service move. The type of mobile home you have will also affect the price whether it’s a single, double or triple wide load. With a transport only type move, the transport company will attach your mobile home to a towing vehicle and haul it to your new location and then unhook it. The transport company would also provide any required permits and liability insurance. With a full service type move, all of the above would be covered along with the disconnection of any utilities or attached structures and then reconnecting them at the delivery location.

Just for an average reference, the cost for a transport only move will cost anywhere from $700 to $3500 while a full service transport can range anywhere from $3,000-$14,000. Rates for up to 60 miles will cost between $700-$1,000 for a single wide, $2,000-$2500 for a double wide, and between $2600 and $3500 for a triple wide load.

A full service transport on a single wide mobile home having to travel that same 60 mile distance will cost between $3,000-$5,000. A full service move will include the disconnect and reconnection of the mobile home along with the transport itself. A double wide mobile home move will cost between $4,000 and $10,000. On a triple wide move the cost jumps to $10,000 or more.

What are some factors that can affect the mobile home transport cost?

The cost to transport a mobile home will vary from one move to another but there are several factors that can influence the pricing on any mobile home relocation. These typically include:

  • Moving Distance: Obviously, the shorter the move the cheaper the rate will be. If you think about it, hauling a mobile home with a truck requires a lot of fuel. Transporters won’t be able to drive fast either or maneuver very well and the trucks may require new tires or equipment if the move is a long distance.
  • Mobile Home Size: The dimensions of your mobile home will play a large part in the overall moving costs. A single wide home will obviously cost less to ship than a double wide since it’s twice the size. In the event your mobile home is too wide to travel down the street safely you may be required to pay for a police escort or road closure to accommodate the transport. Mobile homes that have a large height will also cost more to ship since many travel routes will be inaccessible thus limiting some roads and highways resulting in additional mileage needed to be travelled.
  • Mobile Home Weight: An older mobile home will typically weigh between 35 to 40 pounds per square foot while a newer manufactured home can weigh up to 50 pounds per square foot. So if your mobile home is 800 square feet in size the total weight would be close to 40,000 pounds. Just remember that the heavier your mobile home is the more moving equipment the movers will need in order to haul it. This will ultimately lead to increased costs as well.
  • Permits: If you need to transport your mobile home to a new county or state you may need permits for each territory the transport will be travelling through. The transport company should be able to help you secure the required permits needed for the move

Benefits of hiring a professional transport company

We would never recommend that you move your mobile home by yourself. These types of moves require experienced professionals that have adequate training in setting up a mobile home as well as experience hauling oversize loads. If the mobile home is travelling a particularly long distance it may require multiple movers to handle the entire transport. Some movers may only be authorized to transport a mobile home in one state, requiring the transporter to hand over the shipment to another driver once they’ve crossed state lines.
